Winter and spring are over. That means we at The Abby get to rediscover our love for the outdoor drinking scene. There’s nothing better than the pleasant warmth of our city and watching stunning sunsets from a patio. From community beer gardens, to waterfront establishments, Boston has some of the best prime locations for relaxing and sightseeing… all with a cocktail in hand. Check out the greatest spots to socialize while downing a drink or two!

The Landing at Long Wharf

This seasonal waterfront property is the city’s only fully outdoor patio bar, giving guests access to harbor and skyline views. Tables are usually teeming with fish bowls, frozen drinks, and snacks. Whether you’re waiting for a cruise, or looking to kill time with friends after work, The Landing is a happening spot to enjoy the warm weather.

Tia’s

Nothing beats people watching, especially while cooled off by the natural breeze that wafts off Boston Harbor. Since the 1980s, Tia’s has consistently been voted as one of the best waterfront bars in the area. Located in Christopher Columbus Park, their oyster specials are a popular lunch break attraction. We recommend coming at noon; the restaurant tends to get packed with the dinner rush.

City Tap House Boston

Celtics in the Finals… Red Sox always relevant… NBA Draft on the horizon…. seems like you need a place for sports. Filled with gastropub eats, City Tap House is dedicated to serving their guests high-quality craft selections. With a wide-open bar (and did we mention the huge variety of taps, including 60 beers?), this sudsy location has dozens of choices that adhere to the proper pour size. The sports bar vibe includes televised games, both inside and outside.

The Bowery Bar

A neighborhood tavern located in historic Lower Mills, Bowery Bar boasts 19 beers on a rotating tap, including craft cocktails mixed with house-made ingredients. Comfort foods are the perfect pairing for alcohol and outdoor drinking, including grub that reminds you of grandma’s best home cooking. For those that enjoy spirits, the venue has a whiskey program for regulars.

Lookout Rooftop and Bar

Perched atop the Envoy Hotel, the harborside rooftop lounge may have the very best views on this list. Guests can take in Seaport sights, and share the #lookoutrooftop hashtag that’s printed on the protective glass barrier that fences the bar. The drink menu is always evolving; pages are a combination of mainstay offerings and cocktails only mixed seasonally.
